Ben Gallagher has been a teacher at Meredith Primary School since 2003 and has a passion for integrating technology into the curriculum. In 2010, he developed the Digital Sandpit, a start to the day which sees the students completely immersed in the latest technology, such as iPads, iPods, Nintendo DSi, Xbox Kinect and the Wii. In 2011, Ben completed his Masters in Educational Leadership and has a real passion Student Directed and Project Based Learning. At the start of 2012, Ben put out a call to his online peers for people to participate in the Student Conference Series, a series of presentations using the DEECD’s Virtual Conference Centre, that allowed students an authentic audience to share the work they have done about topics that they are passionate about. Ben is a frequent presenter at many state and national conferences and has also been a presenter at the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference. Ben was the 2013 ICTEV Educator of the Year and also works with the DEECD as a Virtual Conference Centre Coach focussing on using PolyCOM units and other tools for web-conferencing.
