The DLTV Code of Conduct for Events has been adapted from http://confcodeofconduct.com
Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria (DLTV) is a professional association for educators. Our members and the wider community of digital technologies educators meet together to share and collaborate about the curricula and innovations in our sector. DLTV staff and Committee of Management are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all participants at DLTV events.
This Code of Conduct is a condition of entry and registration for all DLTV events or participation in online forums and is in accord with DLTV’s policies and procedures applicable to, but not limited to, all employees, members of the Committee of Management, exhibitors, invited guests, and contractors. The Code of Conduct reflects the values of DLTV and the aim is to provide a safe, productive and harmonious learning space for all. This Code of Conduct applies to all events conducted or sponsored by DLTV including our annual DigiCon conference and other professional learning events. It also applies to forums hosted on the DLTV website.
All participants, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our events are required to agree with the following Code of Conduct. We expect and appreciate cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
Our code of conduct
The organisers of all DLTV events are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form at any event. Attendees violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from an event without a refund at the discretion of the event organisers. Members may also be suspended from participating in online forums at the discretion of the event organisers.
DLTV events are a safe forum for educators to critically reflect upon digital technologies, curriculum and pedagogy. We value a diversity of opinion and dignified debate with our practice grounded in evidence and current research. Delegates shall be courteous and professional when communicating their ideas and honest when sharing feedback.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Sexualised language, imagery or communication is not appropriate for any DLTV event or forum, including talks, workshops, parties, and other online media. Any behaviour that causes another person alarm or distress may be classified as harassment.
If an attendee is reported for engaging in harassing behaviour, or is witnessed engaging in harassing behaviour, the event organisers may take some or all of the following actions:
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of DLTV staff immediately. At events, DLTV staff and officials can be identified as they'll be wearing badges, or they will introduce themselves as event organisers at the commencement of the event. Online harassment can be reported to firstname.lastname@example.org (please provide a link to examples). Participants will be asked to stop any harassing behaviour and are expected to comply immediately.
DLTV event organisers and staff will act to protect participants from further harassment or danger by providing secure escort, safe transport, accommodation or referral to police, medical or welfare services.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all DLTV Events including DigiCon and workshop venues and DigiCon-related social events.
