Hi all, and welcome back to Term Two. Hopefully you had a great break and have returned refreshed and re-energised.

All being well, DLTV is looking forward to returning to some face-to-face workshops. We have some interesting presenters and topics for you to choose from. Due to some pressures relating to staff and CRT shortages, we are planning to deliver shortened workshops in the afternoon. Keep an eye on our upcoming workshops and webinars published in our newsletters and at our website for further details. We will also continue to create the occasional webinar.

Several of the DLTV team will be presenting at the National Education Summit in June at The Melbourne Convention Centre.

Our AGM is scheduled for 11 May, 7.00pm. We encourage our members to join us and also consider becoming a member of our committee of management. The AGM will be a virtual event to allow for as many interested people as possible to attend. Please register here.

Digital technology can give English teachers options that they never had before. Digital tools allow students to engage with material in a new and different ways. It can be used to provide more variety and transparency on assessment tasks.

Carolyn and Catherine will provide English teachers with a range of examples and demonstrate how technologies can be integrated into the English classroom.

Preparing for the classroom of the future

What will a classroom look like in ten years time? How will teaching and learning be impacted? If your school could go back in time would it have designed its classrooms differently?

In this presentation Kevin Daly and Daryl English will speculate about the impact of future technologies and learning spaces. They will discuss how these will impact on both students and teachers in the near future and beyond, and provide practical advice on how schools might future-proof their investment.

VICTORIAN CODING CHALLENGE 2022: DLTV and MAV working together

DLTV are proud to partner with the Mathematical Assocation of Victoria (MAV) in running the Victorian Coding Challenge for a third year.

The Victorian Coding Challenge is unlike other coding courses or competitions available in Australia.

It's a 2-stage coding challenge, free of charge to participants and aimed to extend curious minds, nurture passions and support students in refining their coding skills.

Each Stage One challenge (4 challenges each for Levels 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10) has been carefully constructed with engaging prompts and hints for supervising teachers.

Open to DET schools in Victoria only.

VCE NEWS FROM THE VCAA: Study Design evaluation questionnaire

In 2023 the current VCE Applied Computing Study Design will be reviewed.

As part of the review process monitoring of the VCE Applied Computing Study Design is taking place this year in 2022.

This will involve teachers of VCE Applied Computing and other interested stakeholders providing feedback on the study design via a monitoring questionnaire.

The final date for the completion of the monitoring questionnaire is Tuesday 24 May 2022.

Evaluation of VCE Applied Computing: Online monitoring questionnaire

The VCAA is monitoring the implementation of VCE Applied Computing in schools and is collecting data to inform the evaluation process.

Teachers of VCE Applied Computing, students and other interested stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the current VCE Applied Computing Study Design. To provide feedback, please complete the monitoring questionnaire by Tuesday 24 May 2022.

The online monitoring questionnaire is conducted on behalf of the VCAA by a third party, Qualtrics. Before completing the questionnaire, please read the important privacy information contained in the VCAA Collection Notice which is located at the start of the questionnaire. By submitting your responses, you acknowledge that you have read and understood, and consent to, the terms of the VCAA Collection Notice.

iPAD IN THE EARLY YEARS: Apple Professional Learning

Apple has just released their iPad in the Early Years professional development opportunity starting 26 May 2022 and running throughout the year.

In Term 2 you’re invited to join them, along with special guests such as Dr. Melinda Miller, to explore the transformative power of iPad in the early years. Spread over three weeks — 26 May to 9 June — their Term 2 sessions explore the concepts of children as explorers and enablers when using the Camera app and accessibility features on iPad.
