This full-day workshop for Secondary teachers introduces goals and concepts in the Victorian Digital Technologies Curriculum, including hands-on coding practice.


Suitable for:

  • Secondary teachers with questions about the Digital Technologies Curriculum or just getting started.
  • Teachers and leaders looking for resources to implement Digital Technologies in the classroom.


    Participants will:

    • gain insight into the goals of the Digital Technologies Curriculum,
    • take an overview of the Victorian scope and sequence,
    • explore several critical concepts through unplugged activities,
    • practice general purpose programming with Python and explore alternative languages like JavaScript,
    • find out what object-oriented means (Years 9-10),
    • take a guided tour of key resources available to teachers,
    • discuss classroom tools, such as robots and electronics.


    About the presenter 

    Nathan Alison taught Digital Technologies, VCE Computing and Software Development in Victoria for 11 years before beginning work for DLTV. 

    He brings a background in Computer Systems Engineering and years of hobby coding, as well as a keen desire to help teachers with more complex Computer Science concepts through clear explanations and relevant activities.
